Portland

Now for the biggest city in Oregon, Portland. It has been called Puddletown, Stumptown, and Bridgetown. Hey, no one said that city nicknames had to be creative. Portland has been known as one of the greenest cities in the world. It even has the smallest park in the world, Mill Ends Park. Portland has more literate people than any other city in the USA! It also has the biggest bookstore in the world. It has the largest urban wilderness, Forest Park, at 5,157 acres. How many of you use Wikipedia? Portland is the birthplace of it. Here are some awards handed out to Portland for it’s awesomeness.

#1 for greenest cities
#5 for cleanest cities
#1 best city to have a baby
#2 largest bicycle commuter city

    Dear Ethan,
I really enjoyed your post about Portland. I didn’t realize that it was the birthplace of Wikipedia. I also liked the special awards that Portland has received. Do you have a favorite out of the nicknames? I can understand why each nickname was given. If you could make up a more creative nickname, what would you decide was the best nickname?

      Dear Emme,
I really like Portland. There are so many cool things to do and places to visit. If I had to choose, I’d say my favorite part is the diversity of foods. For example, I’m commenting back to you from a restaurant called Caldera. It is located on the slopes of Mt. Tabor, which is an active volcano in Portland. The food is good. I just finished a great meal of coconut shrimp and calamari. Portland has many unique and interesting restaurants to try, especially on the east side of the city.
