OBOB 2015

I’m doing OBOB. OBOB stands for Oregon Battle of the Books. The books for 3rd grade, (the grade I’m doing) are: The One and Only Ivan, Rules, The World According to Humphrey, The Year of the Book, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Sasquatch, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and The Trouble With Chickens. If you do OBOB next year, I would recommend mastering your books first, before moving on to the next ones. Since I need to read lots of books, I have to read my books quickly. My favorite book is The World According To Humphrey.  (If you see different books in my picture than what I mentioned, it’s because I only said the 3rd grade books) Have you read any of the books?

My Tradition

In school we have to write a paragraph about a tradition you or your family do. Mine was going on an annual trip with my mom. Every year we choose fun places to go and find things to do. This year I went to New Mexico. Last year was Chicago. Before that I went to San Diego and San Francisco. It’s really fun to have just my mom there, instead of having my brother and dad there, which is another family tradition. The pictures below are (left to right): Me and my mom in Chicago, with Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan behind us, Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, and at the top of Sandia Peak, also in New Mexico.

What is your tradition?

Food For The Hungry

Many people in the world are hungry. One way you can help is by going onto Freerice.com. Freerice is a link created by the World Food Programme. You have to get questions right to donate grains of rice. Each question you guess right donates 10 grains of rice to the hungry. 10 grains of rice may not sound like much for people that are like me, with nice houses and lots of food and water, but for hungry people, that’s great. Once I donated 5840 grains of rice!

How many grains of rice have you donated?

Thanksgiving

Snoopy_thanksgiving1_800x600

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the simple things in life. Some things I am thankful for are : food, water, family, friends, and sports.  Some people have big celebrations or family meetings for Thanksgiving, while others don’t even celebrate it. My favorite Thanksgiving food is pie. I also like turkey.  Did you know the Canadian Thanksgiving is on February 10?

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Swim With The Turtles

I swam with the honu, also known as the Hawaiian sea turtle. Sea turtles have lived on Earth for 150,000,000 years, since before the time of the dinosaurs. The honu is probably the most friendly sea turtle. Honu are able to swim long distances, sometimes migrating up to 1,400 miles. A healthy turtle can live for 80-100 years. It was cool to swim along with the turtles and see them up close.  I also held an octopus.  Our guide called the octopus “taco”.  Have you ever seen a sea turtle?  Do you like turtles?
