We went to Old Faithful on the last day in Yellowstone. It was so fun! Old Faithful erupts about every 60-110 minutes. It erupts 140 feet in the air, but has been known to erupt 190 feet. Old Faithful was named in 1870. It was the first geyser to receive a name. The water temperature was 244 F°, proving that the geyser really lives up to it’s name.
Yellowstone National Park was the first National Park, established in 1872, before Wyoming was a state. President Roosevelt started the National Park system. At the North Entrance of the park, there is a famous arch called the Roosevelt Arch. The words “For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People” are engraved on the top of the arch. The arch was completed in 1903.
What words would you put on the arch?

I went rock climbing with my brother, Owen. I had a great time! We were able to climb high. We found a cave and also a set of antlers.
Lower Falls, one out at least 45 named waterfalls and cascades, and hundreds more unnamed, even undiscovered waterfalls over 15 feet (4.6 m) high, plummets 308 feet in the Yellowstone river. It is probably the second most photographed spot in Yellowstone.
Next we stopped in Jackson Hole. We stayed at the Hotel Jackson. It was great! Here is a picture of me and my brother Owen.
Have you ever been to Jackson Hole?

After a good sleep, we went up the Rendezvous Mountain tram, which has the longest continuous vertical rise of any ski area in the United States. There was a waffle place at the top. They had the best waffles!

After that we went to the Grand Tetons. They looked so cool! Here is a picture of them. The Grand Teton National Park was established in 1929. It is located near the south entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
We left at around 6 p.m and got to Pendleton at around 10:30. Pendleton is home to the famous Pendleton Round-Up which is held every year in September. It was founded in 1910 and has grown to be one of the top ten largest rodeos in the world. My grandparents go watch it each year. The next day we got up and hit the road for Sun Valley. On the way we went through Baker City, Ontario, and Boise. We stayed at the Tamarack Lodge in Ketchum and then explored Sun Valley. We went biking, got some ice cream, and listened to the symphony. The Sun Valley Summer Symphony was founded in 1985. It’s the largest free-admission symphony in America. Back in Ketchum, we ate breakfast. I got a croissant sandwich with egg and ham. It tasted so good!!!
Have you ever been to Sun Valley? Have you ever been to the Round-Up?

I went on a road trip this summer! We went to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. We went through Hood River, Pendleton, La Grande, and Baker City in Oregon. In Idaho, we went through Boise, Ketchum, Sun Valley, Idaho Falls, and Swan Valley (population 241). In Wyoming, we went through Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. For Montana we went to Big Sky and Gardiner. I liked going to Old Faithful, biking in Sun Valley, and staying just north of Yellowstone so we could get there early. Have you been to Yellowstone?

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a FRIENDSHIP. -Unknown
