Vocabulary

Every Friday our class has vocabulary practice. We learn words like megalomaniac, cacophony,  floccinaucinihilipilification, and pandemonium. Our vocabulary teacher is actually a Stafford grandma. Her name is Gaga. Well, at least that’s what we call her. My favorite word she’s taught us is floccinaucinihilipilification. We get plastic coins and collect them. If you get 20 coins you get to get a king size candy bar. I have a bag of Skittles from her. At the end of class we play a game called Blurt. Vocabulary is really fun. What is the definition of floccinaucinihilipilification?

    Dear Ethan,
I can’t remember what the definition of floccinaucinihilipilification is…can you use it in a sentence and I’ll try and guess! I love Gaga’s vocabulary lists. I always learn a new word.

First, choose the person that will say the definitions. Next they say the definitions and you blurt them out. Whoever says the definitions first gets a coin. That’s how you play Blurt.

    Dear Ethan,

I have never seen nor heard the word floccinaucinihilipilification in my entire life. I looked in up in my dictionary and Webster didn’t know about it either. I read your sentence to try to figure out its meaning and I think it means “tom foolery”. Am I right?
