Although we have been to Hawaii, your blog has a lot of information that we didn’t know.
How does the size of Haleakala’s crater compare to the size of Mt Saint Helens crater?
How many of the 132 islands are inhabited?
It is interesting that the state fish has such a long name and the state bird has such a short name!
Dear P & G,
Haleakalā’s crater is 7.5 miles long, while Mt St Helens’ is 1.86 miles long. Haleakalā has a crater that is 3000 feet deep and 2.5 miles wide. Mt St Helens’ crater is 600 feet deep and 1.25 miles wide. Hawaii has 8 main islands. The other 124 are islets, reefs, and shoals. Hawaii is also the southernmost state in the U.S. 🙂
Dear Grant,
I did see some humuhumunukunukuapua’a and they are really cool! Did you know that Honolulu is the largest city in the world? (has the longest borders)
From, Ethan
Very interesting information! Most of it was new to me. Thanks for sharing with us. My boys have never been to Hawaii and hope to go someday. You are blessed to have the opportunity to experience the beautiful state and culture. I love the diversity of cultures in our country. Thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us. We love learning from you.
Grant is wondering if it was hot when you were in Hawaii? We are in sub-zero temps here in Bend with several inches of snow on the ground. Fortunately the sun is shining brights…..a winter wonderland!
I loved reading about Hawaii and I learned facts I didn’t know from your blog. Thanks for teaching me!! When you swam with the turtles, were you in the ocean (sea)?
Ethan – Would you want to live in Hawaii? Do you think it would be fun or do you think you would get island fever because there wouldn’t be enough to do? What would you learn how to do if you lived in Hawaii full time?
Dear Jay,
I might get island fever, but it would be pretty fun to live in Hawaii. I would learn lots of things about Hawaii, I can’t even name all of them.
From, Ethan

Me imagino que disfrutaste mucho de tu viaje, que fue lo que más te gusto hacer en hawaii ?
